On February 4th 2018, fifteen adults and eleven children with a whole load of guests came together to celebrate the public launch of Christ Church Stockport an AMiE church plant in the Stockport borough of Greater Manchester, England.
Planter, Matt Thompson preached from Matthew’s gospel kicking off a teaching series in Matthew looking at the authority of Jesus and how he uses that authority for the good of his world and the glory of God.
In the weeks since launch, Christ Church Stockport have delivered 50,000 fliers to homes throughout the town, raising their profile and inviting others to engage with the person of Jesus. They have held a successful family fun day with bouncy castles, face painting and games etc. Where they were able to welcome and engage with a number of guests.
The church have already experienced some growth through Christians moving into the area and joining them and also through a couple of de-churched families who have begun to re-engage with Jesus and the local church. As well as this, there have been at least two new faces visiting the church every Sunday since launch.
Co-Planter Jon Cawsey says “It is our prayer that over the coming months we will be able to introduce more and more people to the Gospel of Jesus. We are exploring creative ways to do this without losing our foundation of opening up the Bible and allowing God to speak for himself.”
